In a time when conversations around wealth are becoming more urgent, Dr. Sabrina Edmon Williams is leading a powerful shift—one that challenges families to move beyond earning and into intentional planning. Her message is clear: building wealth is only part of the journey; protecting and transferring it is what creates true legacy.
As an educator, author, entrepreneur, and life and legacy planning strategist, Dr. Williams is the visionary behind the Learning to Trust Legacy Planning Education System, a growing platform designed to help families take control of their financial futures. Through books, workshops, and media, she is equipping communities with the knowledge many were never taught—but desperately need.
“Estate planning is not simply about documents,” she explains. “It’s about education. It’s about stewardship. And it’s about making sure that what you work your entire life to build can benefit generations that come after you.”

A Legacy of Excellence Before the Mission
Long before she became a leading voice in financial legacy education, Dr. Williams built an extraordinary professional foundation. Earning her doctorate in engineering from Mississippi State University in 2001, she made history as the first Black Mississippian to achieve this distinction in the state—an accomplishment that positioned her among a small number of Black engineers nationwide with doctoral credentials.
Her career continued with distinction as a professor at Jackson State University and Columbia Southern University, where she earned recognition for excellence in teaching and mentorship. She also served eight years as a Safety Engineer with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, receiving national recognition and honors from the U.S. Secretary of Labor for her work on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response team.
Alongside her academic and federal career, Dr. Williams pursued entrepreneurship—launching ventures in real estate, property management, and ergonomics consulting. Yet, even with these achievements, she knew there was more she was called to do.

The Question That Changed Everything
That calling became undeniable during the COVID-19 pandemic. As loss impacted families across the country, Dr. Williams began asking a critical question: How many families were losing loved ones—and everything they built—simply because there was no plan in place?
The answer reshaped her path.
After immersing herself in estate planning education and completing her own journey, she transformed what she learned into a powerful resource: Learning to Trust: A Black Family’s Guide for Building, Protecting and Transferring Wealth. The book resonated deeply, offering clarity, relatability, and real-world guidance in a space often seen as complex or inaccessible.
But for Dr. Williams, the book was only the beginning.

From Pages to Airwaves
A single moment of rejection unexpectedly expanded her reach. After being encouraged to share her work with a local radio station, Dr. Williams stepped into a new space—and found a larger classroom.
Today, she hosts S.E.W. Talks Money and More, airing on WMPR 90.1 FM in Jackson and WGDQ 93.1 FM in Hattiesburg. Through her platform, she delivers conversations on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment while spotlighting small businesses and authors.
“Radio has given me a much larger classroom,” she says. “It allows me to reach people I may never meet—but who are ready to learn.”

Building a System for Real Change
What started as a single book has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem: the Learning to Trust Legacy Planning Education System. Designed to move families from awareness to action, the system includes:
• A foundational guidebook
• Companion workbook and reflection journal
• Faith-based study guide
• Workshops and training programs
• Estate planning implementation tools
Together, these resources address a critical gap—helping families not just understand estate planning, but actually implement it.
“Too many families lose wealth not because they lacked assets, but because they lacked a plan,” Dr. Williams emphasizes.

Faith, Family, and Financial Stewardship
One of the most impactful aspects of her work is her partnership with churches and faith-based organizations. Through a 12-week stewardship and financial legacy program, Dr. Williams helps congregations explore:
• Biblical stewardship
• Financial responsibility
• Asset protection
• Generational wealth building
• Estate planning fundamentals
Her approach reframes stewardship as more than giving—it’s about managing and protecting what has been entrusted.
“When we talk about stewardship in the church, we must also talk about protecting the resources God has entrusted to us.”

A Vision Bigger Than Wealth
At its core, Dr. Williams’ mission is about transformation. She is helping families break cycles of silence around money and replace them with strategy, structure, and intentional action.
Her work challenges a long-standing reality: without a plan, wealth often disappears within a generation. But with education and preparation, it can last for decades—and beyond.
“My mission is simple: help families build wealth, protect it, and transfer it with intention.”
Continuing the Work
Dr. Sabrina Edmon Williams continues to travel, teach, and empower families nationwide through her programs, workshops, and media platforms. Her work stands at the intersection of education, faith, and financial empowerment—equipping families with tools that can change generations.

Final Thought
“Working hard can build wealth,” she says. “But planning wisely is what protects it.”
Through her work, Dr. Williams is ensuring that more families not only build wealth—but keep it, grow it, and pass it on.
When trust matters, learn to trust.
