A proud Jackson native, Wilkerson-Williams has spent years pouring into ministry, music, and education. Her passion for worship and leadership was evident early on during her time at Mississippi Valley State University, where she served as the Director of the MVSU Gospel Choir. In 2007, her dedication and impact within the choir earned her the honor of being crowned Miss University Choir, a recognition that highlighted both her musical gift and her leadership presence.

Her powerful voice and heart for worship have opened doors to share the stage with several renowned gospel artists. She currently lends her voice and ministry as a member of the award-winning Mississippi Mass Choir, one of the most respected gospel ensembles in the country.

Beyond music and ministry, Wilkerson-Williams is a visionary leader committed to making a difference in her community. She is the founder of Jovie Williams Ministries, an outreach centered on encouraging individuals to discover and walk boldly in their God-given purpose. She is also the creator of Purpose Clothing Co., a brand designed to inspire people to live intentionally and confidently in their calling.

Her passion for community outreach is also evident through her initiative School’s In, Let’s Win School Supply Giveaway, which provides essential supplies to students and families, helping them start the school year prepared and encouraged. Through this effort and many others, she continues to demonstrate her heart for service and empowerment.

In addition to her ministry work, Wilkerson-Williams serves in education with Jackson Public Schools, where she continues to invest in the next generation of leaders.

Her contributions to gospel music and ministry have earned her over 30 gospel music award nominations, recognizing her influence and dedication to the gospel industry. She has also been named a member of the 2026 class of Mississippi’s 50 Under Fifty Urban Elite Professionals, a distinction highlighting individuals who are making significant contributions in their fields and communities.

Upcoming Event: Take the Bandage Off Sis Summit

Continuing her mission to empower and uplift women, Wilkerson-Williams is preparing to host a powerful gathering through Jovie Williams Ministries titled “Take the Bandage Off Sis.” The summit is designed to create a safe and transformative space where women can confront emotional wounds, embrace healing, and walk boldly into the purpose God has for their lives.

As a minister, worship leader, and community advocate, Wilkerson-Williams believes that true transformation begins when people are willing to confront their pain and allow God to heal what has been hidden.

“I believe that when you walk in the purpose God designed for you, your life becomes a testimony that inspires others to do the same.”

Through faith, service, and a relentless commitment to her calling, Jovie E. Wilkerson-Williams continues to leave a lasting impact—proving that purpose is not just something you discover, but something you live every day.
