Johnny Dynamyt Kroon: Raw, Real, and Redefining Music

Johnny Dynamyt Kroon, a native of West Memphis, Arkansas, proudly refers to his hometown as “BEZT Memphiz”—a name he coined upon his return in 2013 to redefine the city once dubbed “Stress Memphis.” Born into humble beginnings as the eldest son of four children, Johnny’s early years were shaped by the grit and grind of the “Dirty South.” At age 13, life took a sharp turn when he moved to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area—also known as the DMV—where he was hardened by the raw realities of urban life.

“I was shaped from the heat and mud of the South and hardened into a man by the mean streets of the Nation’s Capitol,” he says. That duality—the spiritual grounding of Southern roots and the toughened edge of city life—fuels his powerful and diverse musical style.

Johnny began writing music at age 23, and his sound reflects a lifetime of layered experiences. Raised in the church and baptized by the streets, he fuses gospel, gangsta, soul, and reggae influences into what he calls “New Bluez”—a genre-blending creation born of blues, rap, soul, and Southern spirit. “Smooth but rough around the edges,” his sound is a raw, honest expression of life lived fully and authentically.

Though grounded in his small-town roots, Johnny Dynamyt Kroon possesses a global mindset. His artistry is driven by the desire to innovate and to be remembered as a pioneer who opened a bold, new chapter in music history. His mission is clear: to craft timeless music that moves, heals, and connects with audiences around the world.

A dynamic performer, Johnny has shared the stage with legends in the industry, including Grammy Award-winning icon Mr. Bobby Rush, as well as Sir Charles, JWonn, Denise LaSalle, The PC Band, LJ Echols, JR Blu, and Calvin Richardson.

Johnny Dynamyt Kroon is more than an artist—he’s a movement. And as he boldly proclaims, “The world ain’t ready for this… but the world no longer has a choice. I’m HERE NOW!”

OneLuv, Johnny Dynamyt Kroon
