Iyuana Patrice Childs: West Memphis’ Southern Soul Trailblazer

Iyuana Patrice Childs, a proud native of West Memphis, Arkansas, is a multi-talented force in the world of entertainment. A devoted wife, mother of four, and grandmother, Iyuana wears many hats—licensed cosmetologist, actress, dancer, writer, poet, and singer.

Her passion for the arts has led to numerous lead roles in stage productions across the Delta, showcasing her versatility and depth as a performer. In November 2024, she made history as the first Southern Soul artist signed to One Prize Records in Atlanta, Georgia, under the management of Danny Lewis (Danny Boy Entertainment).

Before signing with the label, Iyuana independently wrote and released the single “Arkansas Woman,” produced by Jawaski Lake of Soulink Music. Blending Southern Soul, gospel, and country, the song delivers an empowering message for women, particularly those from her home state. The track is also paired with an original line dance. Her first release with One Prize Records, “Ridin & Slidin,” dropped shortly after her signing and celebrates the joy of family and community with a universally appealing vibe—complete with a music video and dance.

Iyuana’s vibrant stage presence has taken her to historic venues like Ground Zero in Biloxi, co-owned by actor Morgan Freeman, The Soul Train Lounge in Memphis (formerly Club Paradise), and The Rockin’ Chair, a Memphis venue co-owned by Al Paris of Kool & The Gang.

Iyuana has opened shows for Bobby Rush and Calvin Richardson, and shared the stage with performers like Tony Grant, Trisha Mann Grant, Tony Hightower, and Patrice Lovely. She is also a member of 4EC, the gospel choir founded by renowned Memphis pastor and artist Kevin Davidson.

With the unwavering support of her community and family, Iyuana continues to achieve major milestones, with a heart full of faith and a legacy in the making. Her journey is a testament to purpose, resilience, and the power of embracing every gift to uplift and inspire others through music, performance, and message.
