Angel King & The TNT Girlz: Faith, Family, and Southern Soul Power

Angel King, a rising force in Southern Soul and Blues, comes from a lineage rich in musical heritage. Discovered by Joseph Barrino, Angel is the daughter of the legendary gospel singer Sandy Foster, renowned lead vocalist of Sandy Foster and the Original Blind Boys of Mississippi.

Her musical roots extend further—she is the niece of gospel recording artist, songwriter, and guitarist Curt Foster of The Blind Boys of Alabama, and cousin to the late Grammy Award-winning Joe Ligon of the Mighty Clouds of Joy. With family ties that read like a gospel hall of fame, music isn’t just a calling—it’s in her DNA.

Raised in North Carolina, Angel was immersed in gospel from a young age, performing in churches, at colleges, conferences, and community events along the East Coast. She is not only a powerhouse vocalist, but also a magnetic event hostess and motivational speaker, known for her infectious wit and vibrant personality.

The TNT Girlz—Tonia Thomas Williams, a dedicated mental health professional, and Theresa Taylor, entrepreneur and owner of Theresa’s Cleaning Company—complete the trio. All three women hail from strong gospel backgrounds, uniting to create an authentic Southern Soul experience steeped in real-life emotion and storytelling.

Produced by Ricco Barrino of Laphelle Music, brother of Grammy-winning Fantasia Barrino, Angel King’s musical projects reflect both tradition and innovation. She’s also collaborated with producer Kream Kash, further enhancing her diverse sound. A proud graduate of Shaw University, an HBCU in Raleigh, NC, Angel is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and The Order of Eastern Star.

Together, Angel King & The TNT Girlz bring a soulful authenticity to every stage. Their gospel-infused Southern Soul performances have opened doors to share the spotlight with icons such as Dorothy Norwood, Shae Nicole, and Erealist Uncle Daddy. They’ve headlined events across the South and Midwest—Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Ohio, Virginia, and North Carolina—and continue to blaze a trail as one of the few all-female acts in their genre.

Dubbed “The Dream Girls of Southern Soul,” Angel King & The TNT Girlz have been nominated for Southern Soul Group of the Year (Southern Plug, Augusta, GA) and Most Slept-On Southern Soul Artist (Hip Hop Culture of Mississippi). Their dynamic presence has also been featured on platforms like Real 2 Reel360 Live TV & Radio.

Their music catalog includes the sultry debut single “I Need Good Loving,” along with hits like “Party Tonight,” “My Man, The Anthem,” “Ms. Feel Good,” “Trailride Boogie,” and “Gud Ova Here.” With faith as their foundation and more music on the horizon, Angel King & The TNT Girlz are a soulful storm that shows no signs of slowing down.
